Specializing in Capital Campaigns and Development Coaching

The Kihlstedt Group is a small innovative development practice offering campaign consulting to non-profits in the New York City region and coaching to executive directors and development professionals throughout the country.

Andrea comes to fundraising through her long-standing interest in human behavior.  She received her Master degree in Philosophy from Brown University.  She is a graduate of the Johns Hopkins Fellows Program in Change Management, and serves on the faculty of the Gestalt International Study Center.

Andrea Kihlstedt started The Kihlstedt Group in 1984. Since that time she has become an expert in capital campaign consulting, an innovative trainer and teacher, and an active development coach.  Her clients range from small unusual projects to large well-established organizations.

Her book, Capital Campaigns, Strategies that Work, (Jones & Bartlett) has just come out in its third edition and is a standard reference in the field.

“I love working with Andrea because she always inspires me with new ideas. She makes the complicated simple and adds a touch of humor to lighten what at heart is a very serious endeavor. She also helps our volunteers and staff understand that fundraising is about really getting to know what our donors want, rather than what we as an institution need. This is an invaluable skill and makes our fundraising infinitely more successful.”
