Non-Profit Consulting, Coaching and Fundraising Training

The Kihlstedt Group is an innovative, boutique development practice offering coaching, consulting and training to non-profits or, as we like to call them, community benefit organizations.

Founded in 1984, the firm has long reflected a curiosity about and abiding interest in human behavior with all of its wonders, foibles and follies. The Kihlstedt Group has become expert in capital campaign consulting, innovative training, teaching, and active fundraising coach. Clients range from small unusual projects to large well-established organizations.

Andrea Kihlstedt, principal of The Kihlstedt Group, has written two books on fundraising.  Capital Campaigns, Strategies that Work, now in its third edition, is a standard reference in the field.  And How to Raise $1 Million (or More) in 10 Bite-Size Steps provides outside-the-box strategies that help make fundraising seem doable.

Most recently, Andrea has worked with Brian Saber, a front line fundraiser, to develop Asking Matters, a web-based resource to help staff and board members find the courage to ask. Based on the innovative concept of personal asking styles, Asking Matters helps people find the approach to asking that suits them best.

"I think Asking Matters will be an incredible success.  It is just what I needed, an inexpensive tool that will give board and development committee members the confidence to ask.  Thank you for Asking Matters."

“I love working with Andrea because she always inspires me with new ideas. She makes the complicated simple and adds a touch of humor to lighten what at heart is a very serious endeavor. She also helps our volunteers and staff understand that fundraising is about really getting to know what our donors want, rather than what we as an institution need. This is an invaluable skill and makes our fundraising infinitely more successful.”
